Imagine you are playing in the most important tournament of your life, and you want to give it your all. What are the things you should be focusing on? Of course, there are million things to do, but I think these 5 things should top your list.
Sleep quality and quantity is important. Go for 8-9 hours of good quality sleep. Have a 20 minute nap in the afternoon, if possible.
Diet should be whatever you are comfortable with. Whatever works for you well. Don’t go experimenting now.
Exercise is the stress and the stress reliever. Don’t go overboard with it, but don’t skip it either. Walking is good, but don’t call it exercise. Do push-ups or squats. Lift your suitcase, if you must.
Meditate 10 to 20 minutes in the morning. It creates a space between stimulus and response. And that is most important for a Chess Player, don’t you think?
Relax after a game, hearing music you like, reading a book or watching TV show or a movie. Go for a long walk or have a nice dinner or whatever cools your engine.
If you consciously focus on these things, and your training and level of skill is good enough already, you will rock in your performance!
